Life Legal battles ABORTION POISONS pushed by the FDA

Updated: Jul 28

The FDA recently implemented a new rule that allows pharmacies to dispense Mifepristone, the first drug in the chemical abortion regimen. Mifepristone kills the baby in the womb and the second abortion drug, Misoprostol, causes contractions which result in delivery of the dead baby. Misoprostol is already available in pharmacies.

Prior to the rule change, Mifepristone could only be obtained in an abortion mill or, in some cases, through a mail-order pharmacy. The new rule is part of the Biden administration’s attempt to circumvent state abortion bans following the Supreme Court’s ruling in Dobbs.

The Biden administration has been methodically stripping regulations from chemical abortion drugs, including the long-standing requirement that women obtain Mifepristone in person from a physician. Because women no longer have to take the first dose of the abortion pills in the presence of a physician, it is impossible to know no whether they actually take the drugs or not – or whether abortions are forced on them without their consent.

It is estimated that chemical abortions currently account for over half of all abortions. With the elimination of common-sense restrictions on dispensing abortion drugs, data on abortion rates and complications are unreliable at best. According to the pro-abortion Alan Guttmacher Institute, only 28 states require abortionists to report post-abortion complications.

This is exactly what Planned Parenthood and other abortionists want – zero factual reporting and zero accountability. Young women and girls are at particular risk from the removal of safeguards, as they are more likely to misuse abortion pills or to take the pills later in pregnancy. Life Legal is currently involved in two malpractice lawsuits involving young women who were seriously injured by abortion drugs. When taken in the second trimester, abortion pills can cause uterine rupture, excessive bleeding, and other life-threatening injuries.

Attorneys General from 22 states sent a strongly worded letter to FDA Commissioner Dr. Robert Califf calling the new rule “both illegal and dangerous” and reminding the FDA that “The authority to regulate abortion lies with the people and their elected representatives.” Moreover, the AGs made it clear that state laws prohibiting abortion, including chemical abortion drugs, remain in effect regardless of the FDA’s new rule.
