Praying Into the Spiritual Battle in Israel

“To win the war, you must win the hearts of the people, win the Gazans. These are real people, real lives, but we serve a real God who wants to call people unto Himself. Prayer is the most important thing you can do, and you don’t have to be in the Middle East to do it,” Boskey said. Boskey told IFA that at one time there were only about 300 Jewish believers in Christ in Israel. Now there are somewhere between 15,000 and 20,000. That is quite an increase. Clearly, young Israelis are open to spiritual experiences, especially when they complete their mandatory military service and are returning to civilian life.

Boskey encourages IFA intercessors to ask God to release His Holy Spirit on all people, young and old. Pray that He would reveal Himself to Muslims, Jewish people, and nominal or traditional Christians who don’t really know Him.

” ‘And in the last days it shall be, God declares, that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh, and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams; even on my male servants and female servants in those days I will pour out my Spirit, and they shall prophesy. And I will show wonders in the heavens above and signs on the earth below, blood, and fire, and vapor of smoke; the sun shall be turned to darkness and the moon to blood, before the day of the Lord comes, the great and magnificent day. And it shall come to pass that everyone who calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved’ “ (Acts 2:17–21 ESV).

Boskey shared these critical prayer points:

Pray that those who would turn their hearts would be saved, and that God would deal with a mighty hand with all those who remain His enemies.

Your right hand, O Lord, glorious in power, your right hand, O Lord, shatters the enemy (Exodus 15:6 ESV).

Pray for the leaders in Israel — political, military, and intelligence. Pray that God would speak to them and make the plans of the enemy known.

Now the king of Aram was at war with Israel. … Time and again Elisha warned the king [of Israel] so that he was on his guard in such places. This enraged the king of Aram. He summoned his officers and demanded of them, “Tell me! Which of us is on the side of the king of Israel?” “None of us, my lord the king,” said one of his officers, “but Elisha, the prophet who is in Israel, tells the king of Israel the very words you speak in your bedroom” (2 Kings 6:8–12 NIV).

Pray that those being held hostage would be released safely.

Deliver me, O Lord, from evil men; preserve me from violent men, who plan evil things in their heart and stir up wars continually (Psalm 140:1–2 ESV).

Pray that the other nations would stay out of this war. Pray for confusion in the enemy’s camps and that their plans would fail.

The Lord frustrates the plans of the nations and thwarts all their schemes. But the Lord’s plans stand firm forever; his intentions can never be shaken (Psalm 33:10–11 NLT).

Ask God to do big things. He has done supernatural things for Israel before, like during the Six-Day War.

At dusk, they got up and went to the camp of the Arameans. When they reached the edge of the camp, no one was there, for the Lord had caused the Arameans to hear the sound of chariots and horses and a great army, so that they said to one another, “Look, the king of Israel has hired the Hittite and Egyptian kings to attack us!” So, they got up and fled in the dusk and abandoned their tents and their horses and donkeys. They left the camp as it was and ran for their lives (2 Kings 7:5–7 NIV).

Pray for those who are under the iron boot of Hamas to have a revelation of the goodness of God.

Turn to me and be saved, all the ends of the earth! For I am God, and there is no other (Isaiah 45:22).

Pray that justice would be carried out swiftly and that there would be no huge loss of life.

Because a sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, therefore the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil (Ecclesiastes 8:11).

Boskey said that many Jewish people love America for standing by Israel, but he noted also that there have been times when Western intelligence agencies have betrayed the Jewish state. There have been both loyalties and betrayals.

Pray for pro-Israel policies and that America would continue to be an ally to Israel.

“I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse, and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you” (Genesis 12:2–3 NIV).

We are dealing with a satanic power using Middle Eastern people to try and destroy the Jewish people. In Revelation 12 when the enemy is thrown out of heaven and comes down to earth, the first thing they do is persecute the people who gave birth to the Messiah, the Jews. It’s taught on the part of Satan trying to delay the coming of the Messiah, just like he did in Bethlehem [see Matthew 2:16–18]. This is central, but most Jewish people are not aware of it, except for the Messianic or completed Jews,” said Boskey.

Pray for the eyes of the Jewish people to be opened to the Messiah Yeshua.

He is the one whom God exalted to His right hand as a Prince and a Savior, to grant repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins (Acts 5:31 NASB).
