In a world where identities are often scrutinized, there exists a peculiar phenomenon—a tangled web of misconceptions, falsehoods, and deceit surrounding my Jewish identity. From historical prejudices to modern-day fabrications, the perception of my Jewishness has been distorted by a myriad of lies. It is high time to unravel these falsehoods and shed light on the truth behind being Jewish. In particular, the truth behind my own Jewishness.
The roots of deception concerning my Jewish identity are deeply embedded in our family history. My confession has weighed heavily on my conscience. What are the consequences and who does it hurt? Oh, believe me, I considered this. How could this mistake have been made? Does this mean I am also not related to Pocahontas? (Yes, we were also told that, but we never believed it). I think in an early phase of being Messianic, it was a presumption that being grafted in makes us Jewish. I honestly do not know how this happened and I regret having to write this to all.
The DNA results are in. No one in my family is Jewish. I am not Jewish. My father is not Jewish. None of my siblings are Jewish. Despite what I may have led anyone to believe, I deeply regret any confusion that may arise from my actions or my words from the past to today. It was not my intention to deceive or mislead anyone in any way. I am sure that it was not anyone’s intention in my family to hurt anyone either.
I understand that honesty and trust are essential foundations of any relationship, and I deeply regret violating that trust. I take full responsibility for my actions and the consequences they may cause. May Adonai and my friends and family be compassionate with this confession. Imagine my confusion when the results were given. I don’t know when the lie started, but I pray that my confession leads to two things: 1 – Restoration with my Spirit and Ya and 2 – a better understanding of who my family really is.
A prevalent falsehood is the denial of Jewish heritage or the appropriation of Jewish identity for personal gain. Whether for political expedience, social status, or economic advantage, individuals have been known to falsely claim Jewish ancestry, perpetuating a distorted image of Jewishness for their own purposes. I assure you this was not my intention nor was it the intention of anyone in my family.
In conclusion, the veil of lies surrounding my Jewish identity has been lifted, revealing the truth beneath. Through education and empathy, I will combat falsehoods and embrace the richness and diversity of my heritage and culture. Please stand with me, united against deception and falsehood, championing authenticity and understanding in my journey towards a better educated future.
